A simple, lightweight fix to make your website load faster — without plugins, redesigns, or technical headaches.
This service is designed specifically for WordPress (self-hosted) websites.
If your website is full of photos, videos, or large images (especially common for pet photographers, groomers, trainers, or daycares), it might feel slower than it should.
Slow pages can frustrate visitors, make your business look outdated, and even drive people away before they see your best work.
The Speed Upgrade is a small, practical service that gives your site a noticeable lift in performance — without rebuilding anything.
Who This Service Is For
- WordPress sites that rely heavily on images or videos
- Pet photographers, groomers, trainers, dog walkers, daycares
- Content-heavy sites that feel slow on mobile
- Business owners who want a faster site without redesigning anything
- Anyone who wants professional optimisation without adding more plugins
What This Service Does:
1. Replace heavy YouTube/Vimeo embeds with a lightweight version
Video players slow down pages — often before the visitor even hits “play.”
I swap them for fast-loading, click-to-play versions that don’t load the video until someone actually wants to watch it.
Your videos still look the same.
They just load faster.
2. Convert large images into smaller, modern formats
Many pet photographers, groomers, and trainers upload HD photos straight from their camera or phone. Beautiful — but huge.
I convert those images into WebP (a fast, modern format) and resize them so your pages load quickly without losing visible quality.
3. Clean up unnecessary page weight
Sometimes pages get slowed down by:
- oversized thumbnails
- old embed codes
- leftover scripts
- forgotten assets in the page builder
I strip out anything that’s slowing things down — without changing how the page looks.
4. Keep everything exactly where it is
Your layout stays the same.
Your design stays the same.
Nothing gets rearranged or redesigned.
The only difference: it loads much faster.
Why This Matters (Especially for Pet Photographers & Image-Heavy Sites)
Your work relies on visuals.
So does your customer journey.
If your website is heavy with:
- galleries
- before/after images
- training clips
- grooming photos
- testimonials with photos
- embedded videos
…it becomes slower over time — especially on mobile.
A fast website means:
- clients see your photos right away
- visitors stay longer
- pages feel smoother and more modern
- Google has an easier time ranking your site
- and your business feels more trustworthy
A slow site does the opposite — especially for new visitors checking multiple providers.
Speed problems are technical behind the scenes — but it’s your users who feel the impact. Fast pages feel smooth and trustworthy. Slow pages don’t.
What Improvements You Can Expect
Most clients see:
- faster page loads
- smoother scrolling
- better scores in PageSpeed Insights
- reduced “bounce” from people leaving early

- images loading crisply without delay
This is just a cleaner, more efficient way to load the same great content.

FAQs
Is this service only for WordPress sites?
Yes. This upgrade is designed specifically for self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) sites.
That’s where I can safely use custom HTML, lightweight video facades, WebP images, and manual cleanup to get the best performance improvements.
If you’re using WordPress.com, I can still help — but only if you’re on a plan that allows custom HTML and media uploads.
Why not Squarespace, Wix, or other builders?
Those platforms limit what you can do behind the scenes.
Most of them block the exact techniques that make this upgrade work — things like custom scripts, video facades, and proper image handling.
WordPress gives the control needed to make the page truly faster without relying on bulky plugins.
Can’t I just use a plugin to speed things up?
You can — but most speed plugins add as much code as they remove.
They’re great for caching, but not for fixing the underlying problem:
oversized images, heavy video embeds, and bloated page weight.
This service takes a manual, lightweight approach that avoids plugin clutter altogether.
Does this help with SEO?
Indirectly, yes.
A faster site improves:
– user experience
– mobile performance
– how long people stay on the page
Google does reward better performance — but speed is just one piece of the overall SEO puzzle.
Will this change how my site looks?
No.
Your layout and design stay exactly the same.
Videos will show as a clean still image until someone clicks them — which actually keeps visitors on your site longer and prevents autoplay from slowing things down.
Is WebP fine to use for everything?
For web content, yes — WebP is ideal.
For anything meant to be printed (recipes, planners, PDFs, etc.), you’ll want traditional formats like PNG or JPEG.
What if I’m not comfortable giving Editor or Admin access?
That’s completely fine — you stay in control.
Most clients create a temporary WordPress user account with Editor or Admin access so I can make the speed fixes directly. When the work is done, they simply delete the account.
If you’d prefer not to grant backend access at all, there’s an easy alternative:
– I’ll send you the optimised images,
– the lightweight video embed code,
– and clear step-by-step instructions showing exactly where to place everything.
Choose the option you’re most comfortable with.
